Rowe - Where the air is clean, it's so quiet at night in the winter your ears hurt from listening so intently. The nights are completely dark except for the stars - millions of them. The smells are of nature, earthy, warm. The winters may be longer, the snow deeper, the house much colder but the trade is exhaust, the sound of cars, planes landing over your house and so much light pollution that you only see the major stars. I'll take Rowe any day and some day I will be there for good.

Fall is HERE
The tomatoes are coming in fast and furious now.
The days are cooler and canning has begun in earnest.
But there is always time for pie.
Apple Pie.
I made 2 in a week, one with cheddar in the crust.
